Your browser may not support display of this image.
All vehicles, brand new or used, are entitled to a warranty, an assurance to replace faulty spare parts. The warranty is a joint assurance given by the vehicle manufacturer or dealer. In case the vehicle develops a defect during the warranty period, it has to be rectified by the dealer at no cost. The auto warranty period normally exists for a period of two-three years from the date of the sale.

The auto warranty period is also extended on the basis of the distance covered by the vehicle from the date of the sale, such as 30,000 miles or 50,000 miles, whichever is first in the two year period. There are two types of auto warranty. They are new car warranty and aftermarket auto warranty. New car warranty is meant for brand new cars while aftermarket auto warranty is meant for used cars.
Aftermarket auto warranty is priced higher considering the age of the vehicle. While purchasing an aftermarket auto warranty, beware of fraudulent warranty. Such warranties promise plenty of features, but fail to deliver. Review at least five aftermarket auto warranties before settling for one. All car owners are protected against fraudulent auto warranty. Take care to ensure that you have a genuine warranty for the car.

Life insurance for vehicles

Warranty is an assurance given by a product manufacturer to replace it in full or just faulty parts if the product is found to be defective for a particular period of time from the date of its sale. Warranty is applicable to all products, including cars and other vehicles. The auto warranty service is normally delivered by the vehicle dealer in association with the manufacturer.
The auto warranty is extended based on the time and distance covered by the vehicle. For instance, the warranty will be in existence from the date of sale of the car up to two years. If the car buyer notices any defect in the car, the faulty spare part will be replaced under the warranty cover. However, the warranty is restricted to certain products only. Sometimes, costly spare parts are not covered under the warranty. There have been instances of the entire vehicle being replaced for faulty spare parts. It is therefore considered life insurance for vehicles.

The auto warranty covers various aspects of the vehicle such as the power train, drive train, brake mechanism, engine and others. Any breach of warranty is liable for punishment under US law. All dealers are entitled to provide warranty to cars sold by them.

New car warranty

Nowadays people just ask for warranties or guarantees on almost any costly goods that they buy. Be it electronic items or furniture anything with a warranty period will give an assurance that the product will be serviced or repaired within the warranty period for free.

Cars also have warranty options. Especially before buying a car one should carefully consider the warranty options of the car that they choose to buy. Mostly all car companies offer 1-3 years auto warranty on every sale. But what has to be kept in mind is for what services or repairs the warranties can be used.
There are some warranty programs that are of no real value when some dire need arise. They do not cover the major repairs or replacements much needed by the car buyer. Or they might have to go through a lot of formality before actually getting the work done.

While buying a car, check with the representatives about what are the services covered by the warranty. Are there replacements or repair options for all types of malfunctioning? Will the company finish the service in time? What are the procedures involved while availing the warranty? Etc. after detailed information choose the right car with the right warranty.

Watch out for fraudulent warranties

A warranty is a repair and maintenance service rendered to a car by a dealer in association with the car manufacturer and a third party vendor. The warranty is issued at the time of delivering a brand new car or a used car from the showroom. The warranty takes care of the cost of the replacement of minor spare parts. The warranty does not take care of the cost of the replacement of expensive spare parts. There are two categories of warranties. The new car warranty is issued to brand new cars while the used car warranty is issued to pre owned cars or vehicles sold in the aftermarket.
While purchasing a used car warranty, watch out for fraudulent warranties, which are in circulation in the market. The US government has created a special law to protect car owners against fraudulent warranties. It is called the lemon law. If the dealers sell fraudulent warranties, which promise undelivered features, they are liable to be punished under the law.

A used car warranty is expensive when compared to a new car warranty since the risks involved are several. Therefore, be careful while purchasing a used car warranty. Review at least five different warranty offers before purchasing the warranty. Consult an auto dealer before purchasing the used car warranty.

Opt for a flexible warranty

All vehicles, including cars are entitled to repair and maintenance service for a specified period of time. This service is called auto warranty and is mandatory under the US law. There are two categories of auto warranties prevalent in the US market. They are the new car warranty and aftermarket auto warranty. The New car warranty refers to a warranty issued to brand new cars while an aftermarket auto warranty refers to a warranty issued to used cars or pre-owned cars.

There are multiple options under a new car warranty. The price of new car warranty is less when compared to a used car warranty since the risks involved are less. The warranty takes care of the cost of repair and maintenance of the vehicle’s drive train, power train, engine, mechanics, steering system and brake mechanism. To begin with, one should opt for a flexible package.
The advantages of opting for a flexible new car warranty are many. In case you are dissatisfied with the service provided, then you can change the warranty agency. Therefore, evaluate at least five different warranty offers before settling for one. Opt for a package that offers a warranty for three months or 3,000 miles covered by the vehicle from the date of the sale of the car.

Buy the best warranty

An auto warranty is a service encapsulating repair and maintenance of the vehicle for a specified period of time. The auto warranty is extended by the auto dealer to the vehicle owners in association with a third party vendor. There are two types of auto warranties. The first type, called the new car warranty, is issued to brand new cars. The second type, called an aftermarket auto warranty, is issued to pre-owned cars or used cars.
The aftermarket auto warranty normally covers the repair and maintenance of the vehicle’s drive train, power train, steering system, brake mechanism and other important aspects. Though the cost of the replacement of inexpensive spare parts is covered under the warranty, it does not apply to expensive spare parts. There is another type of aftermarket auto warranty, which completely takes care of the vehicle. It is called bumper-to-bumper warranty. However, it is expensive when compared to other warranties.
There are various categories of aftermarket auto warranties. They are offered on the basis of two factors. The time based warranty is offered for a period ranging from three months to one year. The distance based warranty is offered for a range covering 3,000 miles to 30,000 miles. Choose a flexible package.

The second basis is time. The warranty is issued for vehicles covering up to 3,000 miles or 30,000 miles. The choice of opting either of the categories is up to the vehicle owner. Always, choose a flexible package. For, if the service rendered is not up to the mark, you have the opportunity of changing the warranty provider.

Understanding the new car warranty is the only way to reap its benefits

In many states the provision of a new car warranty with any new car purchase is the law, a lot of prospective new car buyers pay little or no attention to the new car warranty during the purchasing transactions.  They take it for granted that they have received a new car warranty, and even more dangerous, they simply assume that this means that all repairs or part replacements on the car is covered as part of the warranty.

Far from the case, the new car warranty can only benefit the new car owner who understands the new car warranty and how to use it.  It is simply not a ‘go free’ card that is meant to cover the cost of all your repairs for as long as the warranty says it’s valid.  On the other hand, the new car warranty usually comprises of several sections, all with stipulations and guidelines regarding what you are and are not entitled to as the holder of this warranty.  The warranty may, for example, state that its coverage is for a total of five years, and you may well assume you are covered for all of this period.  However, on closer examination, you will find that the basic coverage may only have been valid for three years – the other two would be engine coverage alone.

Evaluating the coverage to be gained from a new car warranty

Typically, the used car warranty comprises of more than one type of warranty coverage, all of which are issued or generated by the manufacturer of the vehicle or by an independent dealer with authorization from the car manufacturer.

One of the primary coverage type provided by all new car warranties is the basic coverage warranty.  This warranty covers every part of the vehicle except those parts of the new vehicle which are subject to regular wear and tear damages associated with common or daily use of the vehicle.  Note that some basic warranties may be more basic than others, so that not really all parts which are assumed to be covered under this provision are really covered.  For your own gain, it is important that you read the buyer’s guide carefully upon purchasing the vehicle to ensure that these points are clear in your own mind’s eye.

Another popular warranty coverage included within the new car warranty is the drive train warranty, also known as the power train warranty.  It is simply described as that which provides coverage for all the parts of the vehicle which are responsible for its motion (includes engine and axles, for instance).  Clear differentiations however are also made as it relates to this coverage since wear and tear damages are not covered.

Tips for purchasing the aftermarket auto warranty

Purchasing the aftermarket auto warranty is an important decision that any vehicle owner must make.  He must consider if the decision is a worthwhile one or not, if his coverage would really be extended in any beneficial way beyond an existing warranty, or even if he would stand to benefit from increased mileage coverage.  Additionally, the vehicle owner must consider if he would stand to benefit in the long run from the aftermarket auto warranty, or if he would lose from the investment – in the least, he must strive to break even with his investment.

When purchasing the aftermarket auto warranty therefore, the vehicle owner must consider among others what would be his deductible for any claim that he or she makes.  Some warranties charge a deductible per visit, while others charge per repair.  It would be most unwise to invest in a warranty with a deductible that charges you for every single repair that you do even if all in one visit.  On the other hand, you should also consider the type of coverage that you are getting – would you have to stand the cost of the repair or visit and be reimbursed after, or would you have to get approval from your warranty provider that they will cover the repairs on spot?
