But in the case of used cars, the warranties are not dealt properly. There can be some unscrupulous deals that can takes place in the used car market. And thus to protect customers against any fraud, the used car warranty law is established.

The law covers mostly the mechanical and operational defect that is found during the time of purchase. But there are conditions there as well. The conditions are:
1. The present owner has bought the vehicle at a minimum price as per the law stated in the particular state. The price may vary between $1,000 and $3,000.
2. The vehicle purchased should be a few years old from 2 years to 6 years.
3. The vehicle is only for personal use or for family and household use.

Depending on the above-mentioned clauses the dealer must provide repairing up to 30 day at no extra cost. The limit can be either 30 days or 1,500 miles, whichever is earlier. But this cap is only for vehicles purchased at below $3000 range. For the cars purchased at the $5000 range the limit is 60 days or 3,000 miles whichever comes first.
