Know The Terms Of Your Auto Warranty

Vehicle RepairA horrible thing to hear when you get your vehicle repaired is “It isn’t covered by your auto warranty.” Many times, motorists find themselves confused because they just assume that specific repairs are covered by their warranty. A little bit of education is needed to understand more about their auto warranties.

People need to realize that an auto warranty is not an entitlement. It is an agreement you make with the car manufacturer. Your job is to fulfill certain maintenance requirements that the manufacturer sets. If you do your part, the manufacturer will perform repairs as a result of a failed part or defect.

The main question is, what parts are covered by the warranty? The auto manufacturer needs to cover the parts that it makes. Such parts include engines, transmissions, suspension, computers, steering, chassis wiring, instruments, and other parts that they manufacture are covered. Maintenance items and wearable items are not always covered by a warranty. Such items include hoses, filters, belts, tires, and brakes.

Another question is, what about the parts that aren’t made by the car’s manufacturer? Items like conversion components and stereo systems have a warranty through their manufacturers. These can be located in the paper work that you got when you bought the car.

The most important thing you can do to avoid misunderstandings about auto warranties is to educate yourself. Make certain that you read through all of the fine print on your warranty.

No matter where you obtain your extended warranty, it is important to really do your research before making a purchase. Compare quality and prices of warranties before making a final decision on where to purchase.

Chevy SonicBuying an auto warranty can be complicated if you do not know enough about them. Therefore, it may be smart to hire a professional auto consultant before finalizing the warranty. Auto dealers tend to offer fancy warranties to their consumers, but usually they lack execution of these offers. This usually ends up misleading the consumer. Therefore, go for a warranty that is flexible and has a shorter duration. This will allow you to assess the performance of the service provider and switch agencies if the service that is provided is not at a satisfactory level.

Auto dealers have tie-ups with at least three different independent agencies for their auto warranties. Therefore, evaluate at least five different auto warranty offers before making a final decision of which one to use. The evaluations are available to you at your auto dealer. Also, keep track of the laws that govern the warranty. There are different laws for new car warranties and used car warranties. Therefore, do your research before making a purchase.

The warranty period is available for periods of time ranging from three months to three years or the distance covered by the vehicle. The decision to choose a type of warranty is left to the consumer.

Facts About Auto Warranties

Bugatti VeyronInvesting in an auto warranty for your vehicle is a smart idea. Cars tend to break down at any moment and the cost of repairs can be very expensive. A lot of people can’t afford all of their car repairs due to how costly they tend to be. Therefore, purchasing new car warranties or used car warranties is the decision most people tend to make to avoid having to pay for all of their vehicle repairs. Auto warranties can be bought through the car’s manufacturer, a local car dealership, or through an aftermarket auto warranty company. Most new cars will have a factory warranty included, but when that warranty ends you can always purchase an extended warranty.

When purchasing a warranty for your car, keep in mind that there are two different kinds of warranties you can invest in. You can either purchase a bumper-to-bumper warranty or a powertrain warranty. A bumper-to-bumper warranty will cover the cost of repairs on most of the car’s parts, but excludes coverage on parts that need replacement due to scheduled maintenance. A powertrain warranty covers the cost of repair on the moving parts of the vehicle. For example, it will provide coverage for parts such as the transmission and the engine.

Purchasing a warranty for a new car is smart because even if the car has mechanical problems, you still need to make your monthly payments, but the cost of repairs will be covered by your warranty. Having to pay for both repairs and monthly payments can be heavy on your wallet, so in the end a warranty will pay itself off by saving you money on repairs.

Also available are a 230 horsepower V6, and a 2.4L 160 horsepower 4 cylinder engine. All engines come with Mitsubishi’s Sportronic transmission.

Mitsubishi vehicles are backed by short term new vehicle limited auto warranties. The Eclipse, Lancer, Galant, Endeavor and Outlander also come with a 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty along with a 5-year/60,000 mile bumper-to-bumper auto warranty.
