Car Shoppers Embrace Change

images-121.jpgThe Prius has become one of the hottest vehicles in the country.  This is actually quite amazing because this is a hybrid electric vehicle, which requires people to embrace change. With any change, people like to protect themselves.  Many people feel better purchasing a hybrid if they have an auto warranty to go along with it. The billion-dollar question that innovators face is whether people will resist or embrace innovation.  Apparently, Toyota got it right, because thousands of people are buying the Prius.

People accustomed to a regular vehicle would struggle to get the Prius to move forward.  In addition, people probably couldn’t figure out how to put the car in reverse.  However, these are not hard lessons to learn, they just require people to change their way of thinking.  To start the Prius you press a button located on the dashboard twice.  To make your car go forward or backward you manipulate a small stick that comes out of the dashboard.

People might fear technology because it is seductive, yet they might also have a fear of not being able to change. Either way, it is good to protect yourself.  This includes purchasing new car warranties that will cover you in the case of faulty technology.  Innovators never really know which way the cash register will ring.  However, Toyota got it right with the Prius.

Mileage Varies, But It Benefits Drivers

images-81.jpgRecently, J.D. Power and Associates conducted a study, finding that now that the EPA has changed how it tests cars, motorists are finding that they get better mileage out of their cars than what was advertised.  This comes as a pleasant surprise, since drivers find themselves with lots of driving costs, such as used car warranties and maintenance.

Before the EPA decided to update its methods to reflect a more accurate view of modern driving conditions, motorists were consistently reporting that their combined average for fuel economy was less than the EPA rating advertised.

For example, before the update, back in 2007, motorists claimed that they got around 97% of the fuel economy that was advertised.  This was 3% worse than what was advertised.  And after the new standards for testing were implemented in 2008, motorists claimed they got around 105% of the fuel economy posted.

For drivers who are money conscious and calculate driving costs, such as insurance, auto warranty costs, and gas costs, they will have a pleasant surprise with their gas mileage.

What Type Of Pickup Is Right For You?

images-72.jpgWhy would someone want to buy a pickup?  They offer the most flexibility in carrying cargo.  In addition, pickups have large payload facilities and the ability to tow.  Trucks with four door cabs allow seating for five, which makes them a good family vehicle.  In addition to an auto warranty, what other considerations do you need?  Here’s a list.

Consider whether you need compact or full-sized.  They offer different towing capacities and engines in addition to being different sizes.  Compact pickups are more fuel-efficient, easier to park, and cost less.  Full-sized pickups offer more room inside and out, have stronger engines, and have greater towing capabilities.

Bed lengths vary.  Beds range from 8 feet to 4 feet.  The longer the bed, the more difficult it is to maneuver.  Some compact trucks have a bed extender that flips out, which allows for carrying cargo that is longer.

Engines and transmissions can accommodate different needs.  For compact trucks, the base engine is a four-cylinder, which offers fuel-efficiency.  Five or six cylinder engines are optional, giving more power.  A V6 is the base engine for a full-sized truck.  For heavy towing and hauling consider a V8, V10, and diesel.

Pickups come in many sizes, with many options. Determine your use for a truck and pick the best option for you.  Doing your homework on such things as truck options, new car warranties and insurance will save you money and time down the road.

Say Goodbye To Scratches On Your Car

images-63.jpgBuying a new vehicle is an exciting event in most people’s lives.  People often want to flaunt their priceless possessions for everyone to see.  Drivers purchase an auto warranty to protect their jewels, and treat their cars with loving care. In addition, they try not to let their vehicle get any scratches. A car that is scratch free and has a shiny finish is a good reflection of its owner and brings a lot of driving pleasure.

However, with heavy traffic that is bumper to bumper, it is difficult to keep your beautiful gem scratch free.  In fact, it is inevitable that your vehicle will receive a scratch or two no matter what measures you take.

Never fear, you don’t have to spend thousands at a shop getting your entire car panel painted.  You can use Com-Paint, which is a touch up spray that allows you to say goodbye to scratches.  Follow these simple tips.

On small scratches you can use Aeroshot Top Cut to remove and cleanse the surface that is scratched.  This will most likely take care of the scratches so that they won’t need painting.

For medium scratches level with 1000 No. Emery paper.  Shake the can well and hold it 12” from the surface and use a stroking motion to spray.  Make sure the coats are light, not heavy.  Let the painted area dry at least 72 hours.

Car owners like to feel like their vehicles are brand new.  Simple things can allow you to do this such as touch-up painting, routine maintenance, and purchasing new car warranties to protect your vehicle. These simple things can keep your car seeming brand-new.

Used Car Shoppers Beware

images-32.jpgUsed car buyers need to be aware of a common scam; odometer fraud.  This is the act of rolling back the odometer on a car.  This deceives buyers into thinking that a vehicle has fewer miles than it really does.  It is estimated that this crime leads to sales of around 450,000 vehicles every year.

Also alarming is that digital odometers are easier to meddle with than traditional odometers.  There are ways that consumers can protect themselves against odometer fraud.

First of all, request to see the car’s title and make a comparison between its mileage and the car’s odometer.  Also, compare the mileage on the car’s maintenance records with the odometer on the vehicle.  In addition, sometimes there are stickers with maintenance records on doorframes and windows.

Next, you should ask for a Carfax History Report on the vehicle to see odometer discrepancies.  If the person selling the car doesn’t have one, you can order one online with the vehicles VIN number.

Finally, check to see that the odometer gauge numbers are all aligned.  If they aren’t aligned, or if they move when you tap on the dash, you may want to think twice about buying.

These tips can save you from buying a car that has been tampered with.  However, you never know the true history of a used vehicle.  This is why used car warranties are a good idea to protect you against unforeseen repairs.

Unbelievable Dealer Offers: Buy One, Get One For $1?

images10.jpgIn Oak Lawn, Illinois, a Chrysler dealer has come up with an innovative way to get vehicles moving in this unforgiving market: it is offering a buy one, get one for $1 deal.

If you thought you misread that sentence, you didn’t.

If consumers purchase a new Chrysler Pacifica for the sticker price, Mancari’s Chrysler Jeep owner Frank Mancari will throw in a PT Cruiser that is slightly used for only $1.  This offer is probably being aimed at families that have multiple teenagers, where owning a vehicle that is lightly used makes sense.

The PT Cruiser vehicles were former rentals that have about 10,000 miles on them.  Normally, these cars would retail for around $13,000.  The Pacifica costs $39,000 including new car warranties and gets 14/22-mpg city/highway.

Frank Mancari spoke to the Chicago Sun-Times and says that although he is losing money on this deal, at least he is sparking a lot of media attention.

The 2008 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

images-71.jpgAt a price of $60,000, including an auto warranty, this luxury SUV is made to impress.  And although this vehicle is much too dressy to be a rugged weekend vehicle, it is capable of delivering the goods.

One good feature on this SUV is there is no clamshell hatch.  This is terrific because generally clamshell openings are difficult.  They make you lean over the clamshell to get you things, and this is hard no matter what size you are.  However, although the hatch is nicely designed, it isn’t ideal for short people because it opens high and is heavy.

This vehicle has plenty of cargo room for gear, but at this price and size, space should be a given.  And you will be fine camping with four people.

Finally, the interior is beautiful and luxurious, but it’s not a place where you feel like you can take off your muddy boots or sit after a long hard day biking.

All around, this is a terrific vehicle with plenty of room and amenities.  However, make sure you purchase new car warranties with this vehicle in case of unforeseen expensive repairs.

Hyundai’s plan to hit 35 MPG By 2015

images-5.jpgThe government has announced to carmakers that they must get a fleet average fuel-efficiency of 35 mpg by the year 2020, however Hyundai now claims that they will hit this goal by the year 2015, which is five years earlier.

How will the Korean company hit this goal?  Hyundai doesn’t just plan to move forward on developing new hybrid cars, but also to take an approach to its gas engines that are holistic, by discovering ways to take off a mpg here and there.

Some of the new technologies that Hyundai plans to use in its new cars include transmissions that increase efficiency, turbocharging, eight speed automatic transmissions, direct injection, integrated Stop and Go technology, and dual continuously variable valve timing.  Other carmakers plan to make changes that are similar, but Hyundai has a lineup that is relatively small, with no large trucks and SUVs, so it makes it easier to make a quicker mileage jump.

Hyundai’s increased fuel-economy will make consumers happy and encourage motorists to purchase new cars with new car warranties, instead of hanging onto their current cars.

Failure Of The Detroit Three Would Mean 1 Million Jobs Lost

images9.jpgLately, everyone has been talking about the trouble that the Detroit Three (Ford, GM and Chrysler) are in. People have even been speculating about the number of jobs that would be lost if these companies go under. Also, it isn’t ridiculous to believe that many other jobs would suffer on top of those related directly to the three companies.

So, as everyone goes around screaming at the nightly newscasts about a bailout over the next few weeks, remember this: About 1 million jobs are created directly by The Detroit Three in the U.S.

Also intertwined with the Detroit Three is a large supplier network. Unfortunately, if just one of the bigger ones, such as Delphi, closes, with about 50,000 employees in the U.S., you go above that 1-million jobs lost mark.

Unfortunately, many American consumers are opting to hang onto their current cars at the moment and purchase used car warranties, instead of buying new vehicles. If this continues, a bailout may be the only way the Detroit Three will survive.

How To Keep Your Car At Its Best

images8.jpgIn order for a car to maintain its peak performance drivers must get routine maintenance and service.  This will also keep your car prepared for difficult driving conditions that come up. Purchasing used car warranties is a good idea so that you don’t dread taking in your car just to find that it requires additional repairs.  To keep your car in tip-top shape, follow these tips.

First, check your tire pressure on a regular basis.  To keep track, you should do it every other time that you get gas at the pump.  In addition, check your tire treads to look for wear and tear and ensure that there isn’t any cracking.

Second, get regular car washes to keep a nice, shiny exterior.  And add a coat of wax to keep away corrosion.

Don’t forget to be aware of your check engine light.  Don’t ignore it if it lights up.  Make sure to take your car to a professional in this case so that you don’t have expensive repairs down the road.  Of course an auto warranty will help you avoid unnecessary repair expenses.

Lastly, determine a service schedule with a mechanic and keep it.  Your car has certain parts that a professional should look at periodically.  Look at your owner’s manual in order to determine what maintenance schedule is best for your car.

Just by following these tips you can head off unnecessary repairs in the future.  However, you want to make sure you have an auto warranty to protect your wallet.
