Purchasing Used Cars On The Internet

images-54.jpegThe Internet is a great resource for motorists to shop for used vehicles and used car warranties.  Now, around 4,000 dealerships that cell used cars by GM will be listing their vehicles on eBay Motors.  The dealers have the advantage of being able to list cars for free.

Many different cars by GM will be listed on eBay.  These include Buick, Chevrolet, Pontiac, GMC and Oldsmobile vehicles.  In addition, Hummer, Saab, Cadillac, and Saturn will be listed, even though their certification programs are different.

One major advantage to listing on eBay is the large amount of users.  In fact, around 10 million users will be able to view the inventory of used GM dealers.  This program will continue to be more of a draw to dealers as well as consumers if more car manufacturers put their used car inventories on the website.

GM and eBay are working hard to complete the website.  However, GM has already taken advantage of the Internet by posting their inventory on more than 300 websites, such as Cars.com and AutoTrader.com.

Motorists are now able to shop for used cars from the comfort of their own homes.  In addition, consumers can find a good deal on used car warranties by making comparisons on the Internet.  GM has realized the importance of utilizing the Internet.

Which Is Better: Dealership Or Independent Repair Shop?

images-44.jpegMany motorists find it difficult to find a trustworthy place for their automotive repairs.  Some people prefer to take their vehicle straight to the dealership, while others feel more comfortable with an Independent repair shop.  So, which is better?

There are several dealership advantages.  First, dealerships have to pay for the training of their technicians, and provide special equipment and tools to maintain their franchise license.  Also, they have one year’s worth of proprietary information on new cars that they have sold and serviced.  This is information important for diagnosis and repair, and yet no one except the dealer can access it.  Finally, service departments in dealerships basically work on the makes and models of the vehicles that they sell.  This means that they are more familiar with these particular vehicles, so often diagnosis is quick and accurate.

There are also advantages to the independent shop.  Independent facilities are there to serve their neighborhood.  This means that customers enjoy personal customer service.  In addition, an independent shop offers services that are versatile on a diverse range of vehicles.  Many independent repair shops that are top-notch also offer an auto warranty through the parts suppliers.  Finally, independent shops tend to offer better prices than dealerships.

Dealerships and independent repair shops both have advantages to consider.  It is important for consumers to find a repair facility that they feel comfortable with.  And always make sure that you purchase an auto warranty to cut down on unnecessary repair expenses.

Best And Worst Compact SUVs

images-103.jpegIf you’re thinking of purchasing a small SUV you’re in luck because there are many good choices.  Compact SUVs offer practicality, fuel-efficiency, and nice style.  In fact you can find many models for under $25,000 complete with an auto warranty.  So what are the best and worst models to consider?  Read on.

The Honda CR-V is the #1 compact SUV.  It scored the highest for performance, safety, and interior.  According to reviewers, it drives really well, has a sleek design and offers ample storage room.  Following close behind, the Toyota RAV4 comes in second place in its class.  This vehicle has a surprising amount of power for its size. It now offers a V-6 engine, as well as a third row seat. The RAV4 was the first compact SUV in its class over a decade ago.  Coming in #3 is the 2008 Subaru Forester.  This SUV is known for being a fun, family-friendly vehicle.  Reviewers complained about the exterior being bland and the balky transmission, but were willing to overlook these things because it had some great positive features.

Unfortunately, there are some compact SUVs that didn’t rank as well.  In last place was the Saturn Vue Hybrid.  According to reviewers, it isn’t very refined and isn’t as fuel thrifty as many other hybrids.  Also at the bottom of the list is the Mazda Tribute because its power and handling doesn’t match its competitors.  Finally, the Jeep Compass drives more like a car, but doesn’t have the sportiness or off-road capabilities that other Jeeps have.

If you’re looking to buy a compact SUV, there are many great choices out there.  The most important thing is to do your homework and make sure you are choosing wisely.  Also keep in mind the cost of new car warranties, maintenance costs and auto loans when determining your budget.

Places To Purchase A Used Car

images-151.jpegToday, there are many different options of places to buy pre-owned vehicles.  You can shop from your own home via the Internet, use a car dealership, or use a private owner.  These are all good options if you take the time to do some homework.

Search used vehicle websites if you plan on shopping from home.  You will need to type in your price range, the kind of car that you want, and your zip code.  Then, you will see a list of vehicles in your area with information about the sellers.  You can even sell your current vehicle by placing a classified ad.

Independent used car dealerships typically handle all makes of cars.  You can find a practically new car to a clunker.  Keep in mind that if the dealer has been in business for a long time they are probably reputable.  A big bonus to buying through a dealer is that financing and an auto warranty can be arranged for you.

A private owner will most likely give you the best price.  Usually they would just like to get their car sold as soon as possible and they have no overhead like a business does.

Pre-owned cars are a good option for any motorist.  However, consumers should protect themselves by doing homework on vehicle prices, used car warranties, and car loans.

Volkswagen Is Increasing Production

images-142.jpegVolkswagen is planning on putting out 20 new cars in the next three years.  They are making an international effort to deliver eight million vehicles by 2011.

Volkswagen intends on producing cars in all of the various categories.  However, their plan places an emphasis on market share in the pickup, SUV, and van categories.  The portfolio expansion will include a 10 percent yearly production increase.

In 2007, Volkswagen produced 6.2 million cars, however their goal for the future is to put out 8 million cars by 2011.

A big part of Volkswagen’s plan has an emphasis based on improving the environmental criteria of their vehicles.  This will allow oil and gas dependency to be reduced.  To achieve this VW is going to optimize the TSI and TDI engine and make use of a shift gearbox.  In addition, it is in the process of doing research on fuel cells, electric drives, and hybrids.

The rise in oil prices, taxes, and awareness about our changing climate has made motorists demand environmentally friendly cars.  In addition, drivers want peace of mind, which is achievable with a reliable car and an auto warranty.  Volkswagen is meeting consumers’ needs, and other auto manufacturers will soon follow suit.

How To Keep Your Monthly Car Payments Down

images-102.jpegPeople love to get a new car, but they don’t love the new car payments. But, although you can’t avoid those monthly payments, you can keep them reasonable. And make sure to factor in other costs, such as new car warranties, maintenance, and auto loans. Here are some tips to keep those car payments down.

Make sure you purchase a car that you need, not necessarily one that is on the lot.  Often, cars on the lot have more features than you need.  Dealers’ benefit from selling you one of these cars.  Not only do they move a vehicle off their lot, they sell you a more expensive car.

Only buy features that you must have.  For example, air conditioning is something most of us can’t live without, yet we don’t need climate control air conditioning.  You can save a lot of money by living without luxury features.  Watch out when the dealer tries to sell you power seats, audio systems, and tire packages.  All of these things are nice, but not essential.

You can save a lot by avoiding a bigger engine.  Test-drive a car model that has a standard engine.  You might find that the car has more than enough power.  By skipping the engine upgrade, you can save money upfront, as well as on fuel down the road.

Follow these simple tips to save yourself from paying high monthly payments.  However, realize that the one thing that you shouldn’t skimp on is purchasing an auto warranty.  You don’t want to be stuck with unnecessary repair costs down the road.

Understand The Fine Print When Purchasing A New Vehicle

images-83.jpegThere are many great deals out there on new cars, yet you need to understand the offers.  For example, are there any “restrictions”, “qualifiers”, “exclusions”, or “limitations”?  Make sure you know how to read the fine print.

Often, dealerships offer incentives that are regional.  In other words, you must live in the area to get the deal.  You might be able to get a new car for $1,500 less if you live in the right area.

Some deals on financing may be contingent on a predetermined down payment amount.  For example, you might need to have $4,000 cash to put down at the time of the sale.  If you don’t have this amount of money, you might get stuck with finance rate that is higher.

Sometimes an offer may be contingent on if the dealer participates with the program.  This could include a special financing rate, rebate, etc.  Remember that dealers are operated independently and you are not dealing directly with the automaker.

These are just a few things to look out for when it comes to dealer offers.  Make sure you read the small print to understand the terms of the offer.  And make sure that the car you are looking at comes with a good auto warranty.
