Auto warranty is a service offered by the auto dealer on behalf of the auto manufacturer. It includes taking care of the car by repairing and maintaining it for free for a period of up to two years or three years from the date of the sale of the vehicle. Any spare part with manufacturing defect can be replaced under the auto warranty. However, the spare parts and accessories damaged during accidents cannot be replaced under the auto warranty. Also, certain spare parts cannot be replaced under the auto warranty unless they show up genuine manufacturing defects. The automobile warranty has been introduced to ensure protection of consumers’ interests.

There are three types of auto warranty. They are short term auto warranty, mid term warranty and long term auto warranty. While short term auto warranty provides the flexibility of changing the service provider if the service rendered is not satisfactory. It is recommended that vehicle owners opt for a short term warranty, which lasts for three months. During this period, the auto dealer takes care of the vehicle’s power train, engine, steering system, drive train and brake mechanism for free. Long term auto warranty is recommended for luxury and high end model cars needing regular attention.
