If you just purchased a new car, it is a good idea to purchase an auto warranty as well. New car warranties offer four kinds of coverage:

1. The first kind of coverage you can get is a basic, bumper-to-bumper warranty. This provides coverage for the parts of the car from bumper to bumper.

2. The second kind of coverage you can get is a powertrain, or drivetrain warranty. This will cover the parts of your car that make it run. Some of the parts included are the drive axels, engine, transmission, and the driveshaft.

3. The third kind of coverage is for corrosion or rust. This will provide coverage for rust-through problems.

4. The fourth kind of coverage is roadside assistance. This service may be offered to you while you have a basic warranty that is active. This will provide services such as flat tire assistance, towing, assistance with lockout, or running out of gas.

You can familiarize yourself with all of the details of the coverage you receive from your warranty by looking in your owner’s manual or warranty booklet. If you think that you still do not have enough coverage, it is a good idea to purchase an extended warranty.
