Keep From Paying Expensive Car Repairs With Routine Maintenance And An Auto Warranty

Checking Your OilMany motorists do not realize that routine maintenance can help avoid excessive car expenses. A lot of the maintenance does not take much time. In fact, it can be just as quick and easy as refilling the fluid on your windshield wipers. Here are some tips that can help keep you safer and avoid trouble:

Be sure you change your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. However, you should check your oil at least once every month. You want to be sure that the oil line on your dipstick is between the marker lines. If you notice that the oil is black or dirty, it is time to change it.

If you are experiencing difficulty shifting gears then you are most likely having problems with your transmission. Be sure to check the level of the transmission fluid and be sure that it is not low. Low transmission fluid could mean that there is a leak. You should refill it with lubricant that is recommended for your car. If you see that your car is leaking in your driveway, take it to a mechanic.

Also, be sure to check your coolant levels. Your radiator should be flushed every two years and you should have your coolant changed. In addition, ensure that your radiator is free of corrosion.

Lastly, every two weeks you should check your tire pressure. Refer to your owner’s manual for the correct pressure and fill your tires accordingly. Keep in mind, both under-inflation and over-inflation can affect fuel efficiency and safety. Therefore, it is very important to maintain your tire pressure.

Following these simple maintenance tips can help you avoid having to make major repairs that can be costly. However, it is important to buy and auto warranty also so that your do not have to pay unnecessary expenses for car repairs.
