While the used car warranty may not be one of the most comprehensive type warranties around, and while it may only cover your car for selected repair jobs, you must agree that it is still a very beneficial asset to have.
Consider for example a situation without your used car warranty you would have had to be putting out all the money yourself for servicing, repairs and replacements of parts in your used vehicle. But with the used car warranty, even though for a large part you have to put out quite a lot of money from your own pockets, you can be assured that you would not be putting out the entire amount.Â
The used car warranty usually provides selected coverage on specified parts of your car. Therefore when a part other than that covered needs repairing or replacing, you must stand the cost yourself. You would stand to benefit somewhat though whenever that part covered by your warranty needs repair or replacing – in such circumstances you do not have to fork out the cash yourself. When purchasing a used car therefore, consider the used car warranty carefully and decide if the coverage you are getting is worth your while or not – if you can get the warranty to cover the parts of the car that are most expensive to repair and fix, then the better off it is for you.
Although the used car warranty is one that should be automatically transferred along with the sale of the used car, often times the person buying the used car ends up with no warranty coverage at all. This may be due to the fact that the car purchase transaction may have been a private affair or that the person buying the vehicle is ignorant of the facts of the sale and gives the car dealer opportunity to take advantage of the situation.
All used car dealers are authorized to provide warranty coverage for the used car being sold to the unsuspecting buyer. The problem is that not many people are aware of this and they fall into the ‘as is’ trap. While the used car dealer is bound by law to include a used car warranty in any sale transaction of a used car that he may be involved in, he can get around the red tape by clearly stating upon the purchase of the vehicle that it is sold as is. Even if he does not take the time to explain any of this to you, so long as you agree to the purchase of the used vehicle which is advertised to be sold ‘as is’, you automatically forfeit all rights to hold that dealer accountable for a bad vehicle that he may have sold you.
Warranty refers to repair and maintenance service provided by car dealers in association with third party vendors. The service will take care of the repair and replacement cost of minor spare parts. However, the warranty does not apply to replacement of expensive spare parts. The warranty will be valid for a period of time agreed by the car owner as well as the service provider. There are two types of warranty. The first type is the new car warranty, issued to brand new cars. The second type is the used car warranty issued to pre-owned cars or those cars sold in the aftermarket.
Used car warranty is expensive when compared to new car warranty considering the age factor of the car. Always insist on a used car warranty while purchasing the car. Under US law, all cars should necessarily have a warranty. If the dealer is not interested in issuing a warranty, the same can be procured from a third party vendor.
Review at least six different warranty packages before finalizing the deal. There are instances of fraudulent warranties being offered by the agencies. Therefore, beware of fraudulent used car warranty. Consult a professional before purchasing the warranty. Buy a flexible warranty since it gives you the option to change the service provider.
The used car warranty is often usually a limited coverage version of the new car warranty. The prospect of covering, or insuring, a used car against breakdown and wear and tear repairs is a lot more daunting than it is when considering the same for the new car – at least for the company backing the claim.
Therefore its obvious for one to assume that the used car owner would stand to benefit the most from a used car warranty. We take for granted that business is business, and every risk must be converted into a profitable investment.
Most of us used car owners accept the fact that the used car warranty provides only a limited coverage for our vehicles, and we do appreciate that we can make the use of it in terms of compensation when it comes time to repairing or maintaining our used vehicles. But the investor does not go home empty handed either – the majority of the parts of the used car that may be covered by the limited coverage are often not parts that we would regularly replace or which would need regular maintenance. This therefore means that fewer claims are filed or awarded, and the business continues to be a booming one.
I think the aftermarket auto warranty was an ingenious idea. Imagine now that you do not have to settle for the warranty coverage your car dealer offers you with your vehicle purchase. I could upgrade my warranty coverage, so to speak, by simply buying an aftermarket auto warranty with the coverage that I did not have before. In fact, now I can turn my basic limited warranty coverage package for my car into a fully comprehensive one!Â
And in addition to being able to extend the coverage on my vehicle, I am also able to extend the warranty life of my coverage in general by purchasing the aftermarket auto warranty! Now it is quite true that if my car warranty is due to expire in a couple of months that it will expire. But by purchasing an aftermarket auto warranty while my existing warranty is valid, I am able to ensure that my vehicle coverage is constant – that as soon as one becomes void the other ‘kicks in’ so to speak!Â
Purchasing an aftermarket auto warranty would also allow me the benefit of extending the mileage coverage of my vehicle. Some aftermarket warranties do in fact allow mileage coverage of up to one hundred thousand miles – of course though that is dependent on the condition of your vehicle at the time of the purchase.
The used car warranty should definitely be among those important pieces of papers that should be carried at all times when driving. You might wonder why I say this; after all, it is not as important as the car insurance. Wrong – the used car warranty is in fact one of the more beneficial services that the used car owner can have.
While the car insurance is beneficial for coverage in times when something beyond your control occurs (like fire, theft or accident), the warranty is good for simply those times when you need basic maintenance or repairs. The major difference between the coverage provided by these two documents is the major reason why the used car warranty is often disregarded or taken for granted.Â
But consider carefully that the used car is often in need of maintenance and service repairs. Consider that you are more likely to experience a breakdown with your used car than you are to get into an accident or to have someone steal your used car. Consider now the cost of repairing and maintaining your used car on a monthly or yearly basis, and consider now whether or not the used car warranty is as valuable an asset as I think it is.
Warranty is a service offered by the vehicle dealer that includes repair and maintenance of the vehicle for a duration prescribed under the agreement. As per the agreement, the dealer will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of the power train, drive train, brake mechanism and steering system. But the agreement does not cover the replacement of expensive spare parts. Besides, some warranties do not apply if the vehicle is involved in an accident. There are two categories of warranty. The new car warranty is issued to brand new vehicles delivered from showrooms. The used car warranty is issued to cars sold in the aftermarket period or pre-owned cars.
There are possibilities of fraudulent used car warranties being offered to the car owners. To protect car owners against used car warranty fraud, the US government has evolved a special law. It is also know as lemon law. If you are offered a fraudulent used car warranty, you can seek protection under the lemon law.
Review at least 10 different warranty offers before finalizing one. This is necessary to eliminate the chances of fraudulent used car warranty. Do not opt for warranty, which has fancy features. Settle for a short duration warranty.

The aftermarket auto warranty, also known as the extended auto warranty, is simply that warranty which provides extra or additional warranty coverage to a vehicle with an existing warranty. It may also be used to provide warranty coverage for the vehicle without any current warranty coverage.
The aftermarket auto warranty, also likened to a service warranty, is one that must be purchased separately from the vehicle during purchasing transactions. It may or may not be purchased simultaneously with the vehicle however, and it can be purchased from any other dealer or provider for a stipulated period after the purchase of the vehicle and still be able to provide coverage for the vehicle during the time lapse between the two purchases.
The aftermarket auto warranty may be able to extend the coverage on a vehicle whose existing warranty coverage is due to expire soon, or it may be able to extend the terms of the coverage such that a limited warranty coverage may be converted into a fully comprehensive coverage. Likewise, it may be able to extend the mileage coverage on a vehicle. For the vehicle without any warranty coverage, it can be selected to provide any type of coverage that the vehicle owner may desire.
Many used car vehicle owners fail to understand the benefits of a used car warranty simply because many are not aware that they are entitled to one when buying a used car from a dealer. Many people are in fact not aware that they can get a used car warranty, and many assume indeed that the used car often enough does not come with warranty coverage simply because it is a used car.
On the contrary however, many states insist that used cars be sold with a buyer’s guide that stipulates full details on the warranty coverage provided with the car. The types of used car warranties vary, so that the unsuspecting individual purchasing the car must be wary of the type of coverage that he or she is getting.
Most used car warranties are limited, offering coverage to only the most basic parts of the vehicle. It is very rare to find used cars being sold with fully comprehensive warranties unless it is in fact a used new car – that is to say, if the manufacturers warranty is still valid then it may or may not be directly transferable to the new vehicle owner.
Many people, especially the more inexperienced ones, often tend to misinterpret the used car warranty as being the equivalent of the extended warranty.  Â
Â
This is primarily because many used cars are not able to qualify directly for the used car warranty, and thus the owners settle for an extended warranty (a warranty which supplements or replaces the need for a new or used car warranty). The reasons that most used cars do not qualify for the used car warranty may be one of two – either the car has been used beyond the coverable mileage allowance (usually between fifty thousand miles and one hundred thousand miles for most vehicles) or it is beyond the coverage age of the vehicle (normally vehicles older than ten years do not qualify for warranties).Â
But another reason pervades as to why many inexperienced used car buyers are so unaware about the difference between the different types of warranties, and this has to do with the fact that not many used vehicles are in fact sold with used car warranties. While the law in most countries and states do specify that all used cars must be sold with warranties, this is often overlooked by the agreement to sell or purchase the vehicle ‘as is’. Sadly, the inexperienced person does not know that by agreeing to an ‘as is’ purchase that he has just released all rights to claims and assistance for maintenance of his used car.Â
