Extend your car’s insurance

The time we buy a car, the company provides it with an auto warranty. Under this warranty, cost of all the repairs and services of a car are covered. But once the car looses its market value, this auto warranty expires. For such vehicles, an extended car warranty or an aftermarket auto warranty can be availed. This aftermarket warranty is provided by the car insurance company that offers various attractive and beneficial packages when your car meets a failure.

An aftermarket warranty can be bought through the original dealer or from the insurance company. In both circumstances there are some factors that need to be considered. The option of buying the warranty from the dealer is considered a better one because in this case it becomes easy to renew or sustain the contract in the future. But a major drawback is also attached to the option of buying from the dealer. The warranty bought from the dealer usually tends to be more expensive. It may also cover less than the warranty bought from the insurance company. But regardless of all this, it is always better to research about the insurance and company’s options before investing in an aftermarket warranty.

New car warranty

Nowadays people just ask for warranties or guarantees on almost any costly goods that they buy. Be it electronic items or furniture anything with a warranty period will give an assurance that the product will be serviced or repaired within the warranty period for free.

Cars also have warranty options. Especially before buying a car one should carefully consider the warranty options of the car that they choose to buy. Mostly all car companies offer 1-3 years auto warranty on every sale. But what has to be kept in mind is for what services or repairs the warranties can be used.
There are some warranty programs that are of no real value when some dire need arise. They do not cover the major repairs or replacements much needed by the car buyer. Or they might have to go through a lot of formality before actually getting the work done.

While buying a car, check with the representatives about what are the services covered by the warranty. Are there replacements or repair options for all types of malfunctioning? Will the company finish the service in time? What are the procedures involved while availing the warranty? Etc. after detailed information choose the right car with the right warranty.

Warranty for brand new cars

Warranty refers to repair and maintenance service offered to vehicles by auto dealers in association with a third party agent. Warranty also covers some replacement of spare parts. There are two categories of warranties. The first is called new car warranty issued to brand new cars. The second category is called used car warranty meant for vehicles sold in the aftermarket or pre-owned cars.

The new car warranty is issued on two bases. The first basis is the time. For instance, the warranty period ranges between three months to three years from the date of the sale of the car. The second basis is time. The warranty is issued for vehicles covering up to 3,000 miles or 30,000 miles. The choice of opting either of the categories is up to the vehicle owner. Always, choose a flexible package. For, if the service rendered is not up to the mark, you have the opportunity of changing the warranty provider.
Review at least five different warranty packages. The warranty covers the repair and maintenance of the vehicle’s engine, power train, drive train, steering system and brake mechanism for a fixed period of time.

Understanding the new car warranty is the only way to reap its benefits

In many states the provision of a new car warranty with any new car purchase is the law, a lot of prospective new car buyers pay little or no attention to the new car warranty during the purchasing transactions.  They take it for granted that they have received a new car warranty, and even more dangerous, they simply assume that this means that all repairs or part replacements on the car is covered as part of the warranty.

Far from the case, the new car warranty can only benefit the new car owner who understands the new car warranty and how to use it.  It is simply not a ‘go free’ card that is meant to cover the cost of all your repairs for as long as the warranty says it’s valid.  On the other hand, the new car warranty usually comprises of several sections, all with stipulations and guidelines regarding what you are and are not entitled to as the holder of this warranty.  The warranty may, for example, state that its coverage is for a total of five years, and you may well assume you are covered for all of this period.  However, on closer examination, you will find that the basic coverage may only have been valid for three years – the other two would be engine coverage alone.

Evaluating the coverage to be gained from a new car warranty

Typically, the used car warranty comprises of more than one type of warranty coverage, all of which are issued or generated by the manufacturer of the vehicle or by an independent dealer with authorization from the car manufacturer.

One of the primary coverage type provided by all new car warranties is the basic coverage warranty.  This warranty covers every part of the vehicle except those parts of the new vehicle which are subject to regular wear and tear damages associated with common or daily use of the vehicle.  Note that some basic warranties may be more basic than others, so that not really all parts which are assumed to be covered under this provision are really covered.  For your own gain, it is important that you read the buyer’s guide carefully upon purchasing the vehicle to ensure that these points are clear in your own mind’s eye.

Another popular warranty coverage included within the new car warranty is the drive train warranty, also known as the power train warranty.  It is simply described as that which provides coverage for all the parts of the vehicle which are responsible for its motion (includes engine and axles, for instance).  Clear differentiations however are also made as it relates to this coverage since wear and tear damages are not covered.

How can your new car warranty help you?

Are you in dismay because your new car has suddenly developed an engine problem only six months after purchasing it?  Or probably you have only just started to notice certain kinks in your new car that were not there a few months ago.  I agree that these are indeed good cause for concern – but not if you have your new car warranty at hand.

The new car warranty should be able to cover the cost of repairs or replacement for your new car according to its stipulations so that you do not have to worry about this yourself.  All new car warranties should give you at least one year of coverage – some warranty coverage could extend from two years to even five years.  But regardless of the time limit on your coverage, you can be assured that at least the first year after purchase is covered by your new car warranty.

Do not jump for joy yet, some warranties would provide full coverage while others would provide only limited coverage.  Also, some warranties could even specify the type of coverage that the new owner would be entitled to.  So before you start to fuss about which mechanic should do your repairs, check your new car warranty to confirm whether or not the type of repair that you require is covered – and if it is then take your car directly to the authorized car dealer for servicing and repairs.

Advantages of the aftermarket auto warranty

The aftermarket auto warranty is most appreciated for its versatility for auto coverage and its flexibility in terms of purchasing.  It is in fact the only auto warranty that can be negotiated with, although it is also the only warranty for which you must pay for coverage.

The aftermarket auto warranty can be used in combination with any other type of warranty coverage, or it can be used as a stand-alone warranty for the vehicle without any coverage – hence the reason for its versatility.  If you have bought a used vehicle, for example, and you did not receive any warranty coverage with the purchase transaction, then you could simply invest in a suitable aftermarket auto warranty for coverage on you used vehicle.  Also, if you have purchased a vehicle whose existing warranty coverage is due to become void soon, then also the aftermarket auto warranty can be purchased to provide coverage beyond the existing warranty time period.

The flexibility that you obtain with the choice of the aftermarket auto warranty one is also a great bargaining tool during the purchase.  You are not bound to buy the warranty from a specific dealer – you can purchase the aftermarket auto warranty from any other service provider.  Likewise, you can negotiate the types of coverage that you want on your aftermarket auto warranty.

Types of coverage features associated with the new car warranty

The new car warranty is an important fact in the new car purchase.  It is basically the manufacturer’s way of assuring that the vehicle would perform as they say it should.  The warranty itself could provide one of a number of types of coverage.

One of the best coverage that you could get with your new car warranty is the bumper-to-bumper warranty.  This type of warranty provides coverage for all the parts of the car excluding those that are susceptible to wear and tear damages.  The wear and tear coverage feature is another type of warranty coverage altogether – it covers all the parts of the car that may need replacing due to wear and tear damages.  The general difference between these two types of warranty is that the bumper-to-bumper coverage facilitates the repair of the damaged parts while the wear and tear warranty facilitates the replacement of worn out parts that may be of no further use to the vehicle.
The new car warranty coverage could also include a power train coverage feature.  This type of warranty covers the major parts of the car, which are usually the most costly to repair or replace.  Such parts would normally include the engine, transmission and suspension of the new vehicle.
