Extensive markets exist for used cars. These markets thrive because many people cannot afford the immediate costs of new cars. Many car owners buy newer model cars and sell an old car every three or four years, thereby increasing the used car market. These cars need to be appropriately serviced and repaired in order to function properly. Many car dealers offer used car warranties on these cars, the length of each policy depending on the condition of the car.
The customers are advised to be careful of cheap unknown companies that attempt to sell used car warranties. They should be well informed on the contents of the warranties and more particularly, conduct their transactions with a safe, reputable company. This is essential so that they can reduce the likelihood of being robbed and cheated out of hard-earned money.
While many warranty companies offer warranty contract to used car buyers, it must also be noted that some of these companies also design their own auto warranties. This means that they can insert hidden clauses which can be missed or by-passed by the salesperson. It is your responsibility therefore to review thoroughly all clauses and have all questions addressed in a manner acceptable only to yourself before agreeing to buy any used car warranty. Researching both the company and the warranty can prove to help immensely and save you a lot of regrets later on.
Aftermarket auto warranty refers to the warranty extended by any company to the car once the original warranty expires.
Original warranty is offered by the car dealer in association with a company. Usually, the original warranty is for a period of 36 months or for a fair distance covered by the vehicle. The original warranty is useful to the car owner in event of a mechanical failure, repairs or defects. However, the original warranty ceases once the expiry period is over.
This is where the aftermarket auto warranty becomes useful. The aftermarket auto warranty covers almost all the features offered in original auto warranty. It is offered for periods ranging from three months to 13 years or 3,000 miles onwards.
It is advisable to choose an aftermarket auto warranty since the benefits are immense. The aftermarket auto warranty takes care of all repairs and maintenance issues for an extended period of time. It is better if vehicle owners opt for lifetime aftermarket auto warranties. The benefits under a lifetime aftermarket auto warranty are greater. Roadside assistance, fuel delivery and towing benefits are part of the offer.
Most of the companies offering an original warranty also offer aftermarket auto warranties. Be sure to look over all the details before finalizing a suitable aftermarket auto warranty.
We tend to strain our budget while buying a used car. So, it is necessary to keep a few things in mind while purchasing a used car from an individual seller. One should be as careful with buying a used car as if they with purchasing a house.
Â
Precaution will guarantee that you are not cheated against buying a car that could be a financial nightmare. Proper terms and conditions should be read, as well as guidelines should be followed before the payment for the purchase is made. It should be checked that the used car fulfills all your requirements and maintains its resale value.
Â
Always check that the car suits your expectations from its outer appearance and inner machineries. A car that has been declared as trash by some agencies and now rebuilt should not be considered at all. The authenticity of the registration plate, engine number and vehicle identification number should be ensured by checking the registration papers, log books and owner purchase papers. Make sure there are no signs of rust and repair on its body. The base of the car from underneath should be straight and clean. It would be ideal to have a mechanic check the engine and other mechanical parts. Make sure that the interior is clean and is not damaged in any manner.

The Auto Industry Gets a Preview of Nissan’s Newest
Nissan North America, Inc. let spectators have a glimpse at their 2008 models of the Titan full-sized pick-up, the Armada SUV, and the Pathfinder midsized SUV at a press conference in Michigan this week. Next week the vehicles will attend the Chicago Auto Show where they can expect more scrutiny.
The 2008 Nissan Titan is offered in a variety of styles, including the new Long Wheelbase version. The full-sized truck caters to heavy work performance and adventure driving.
The Nissan Armada full-sized SUV model receives several enhancements, including an array of technology capabilities. An impressive Bose sound system is featured, Bluetooth, and an improved XM Navtraffic navigational system come included on the Armada LE.
In 2008 a car buyer looking for towing performance can purchase a Pathfinder with a 5.6 liter V8 engine. Nissan looks forward to another year of producing a popular SUV in its newest version of the Pathfinder.
“The addition of the Titan Long Wheelbase models and the first-ever V8 engine ever offered in the 22-year history of Pathfinder expand the available choices for buyers of these two popular vehicles,” said Larry Dominique, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc.
“The extensive makeover of Armada, which has topped J.D. Power and Associates’ APEAL study for the Large SUV class in 2005 and 2006, adds up to an even more attractive, more premium and more complete Armada package for 2008 – one that we think will continue to make Armada stand out in the full-size SUV class.”
Both the Armada and Titan are available with Fuel Efficiency Vehicle capabilities.

Automobile Manufacturers Take Their Chances
No one can argue that 2007 is a crucial year for the automotive world. Recent recalls, fuel crises, and desperate public relations incidences coming from some of the top vehicle makers has left the manufacturers struggling to make up for lost public loyalty. It’s going to be a year to watch what models make it and what manufacturers continue a downward decline.
The effects of 2007’s automobile manufacturing luck or lack thereof will also play a pivotal role in the warranty division of the sector. Factory warranties will be an incentive for car buyers, but will they be as thorough as other warranty providers are able to offer? As always with a fickle industry, one can only watch and see, and rely on the extended warranty services recommendes through reputation.

A new poll indicates increased interest in hybrids.
We have discussed rising gas prices and related issues several times already this week. Many people are decreasing the amount they drive their cars and turning to smaller more fuel efficient vehicles.
Yesterday we looked at the Toyota Prius and discussed hybrid cars. But how many of you out there will purchase a hybrid vehicle? A new Gallup poll conducted last month and release earlier this week showed that 57% of those surveyed will consider buying a hybrid when they purchase their next vehicle.
Here are some more statistics from the poll.
Those favoring hybrids show little gender or regional differences, but "hybrids appeal much more to younger and middle-aged Americans than to seniors," Gallup reports. Upper-income Americans are slightly more likely than lower-income Americans (62% vs. 55%) to say they would seriously consider buying a hybrid when purchasing their next car.
This may be somewhat surprising, considering how Americans love their powerful cars. However, the price of gas coupled with the countless new hybrid models on the horizon may be enough to push drivers in this new direction.

Auto News: GM sticks with plan
GM will continue to lower prices instead of offering discounts and incentives for the next year.
GM began of lowering the price of their cars with the "American Revolution" ad campagn. Now, instead of offering rebates and extras with their vehicles, GM’s vehicles will actually be cheaper than the competition.
GM announced this news while they continue to lose market share against fierce competitors.
General Motors Corp. expects its U.S. market share to continue to fall in the first quarter of this year due to aggressive competition, but said that won’t reverse its strategy of lowering prices and relying less heavily on discounts, GM marketing officials said Monday.
"We’re certainly not pleased with current share levels and we’re not satisfied with it, but we have to run this play," said Paul Ballew, GM’s executive director of market and industry analysis, in a teleconference with analysts.
GM is in the same boat as the rest of the American auto world. Maybe, once this pricing program matures, there will be forbearance of profit, eventually.
