Fred’s Ford Warranty Options

tbird.jpgSometimes I think there is no such thing as a good new car warranty.

I had a new Ford Thunderbird and just prior to the manufacturer’s warranty expiration it was missing on one cylinder, apparently because the ignition coils failed. After some arguing, Ford issued a warranty extension for just this issue.  Shortly thereafter, while on a trip I had to take the car to Ford dealership in Miami, they told me they were going to have to replace the throttle body, flush the injectors, and reprogram the computer (which had already been done). It was then that I was told the bill would be $1098.00 because this was not covered.

It was then that I decided to look into an extended auto warranty. I looked at some extended auto warranty plans and decided to contact Auto Advantage.  I was able to purchase a used car warranty at a rate far less that the dealership was able to offer.

2008 Chevrolet Warranty Coverage Options

corvette.jpgAs manufacturers try to enhance sales for in 2008 many of them are offering incentives if you purchase one of their vehicles.  In addition, new vehicles are also covered by an exclusionary bumper-to-bumper warranty.  For instance, all Chevrolet models are covered by the General Motors five-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which includes roadside assistance and substitute transportation, as well as a three-year or 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

You would think this would be enough coverage but many of a vehicle’s failures are not covered by their powertrain warranty.  These breakdowns often occur after the three-year or 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired.

It is for this reason that many consumers choose to purchase an extended warranty.  Though manufacturers offer their own extended auto warranty plans, an auto warranty is generally available for considerably less money through an aftermarket auto warranty company.  Compare coverage at sites such as autowarranties.com to see the high level of coverage and cost savings.

Why Own An Auto Warranty – Ask Tom…

snow.jpg

Driving in the midst of one of the northeast’s worst winter storms my four year old car simply stopped moving.  I was stuck out in the cold and needed a tow.  I called my roadside assistance provider, autoroadservice.com, who got me and my car to the nearest auto repair facility. Unfortunately, I found out that I had to foot the more than $800 repair bill for the transmission cable that somehow snapped in the middle of nowhere.  Not what I needed to hear right around the holidays when cash was tight.  The car only had 35,000 miles but was just out of warranty I was told.

It got me thinking: If I am going to keep this car I really need to look into used car warranties.  After all, I had heard the horror stories from my friends about their used cars turning into sinkholes that just kept sucking money from their wallets.

Don’t fall into the same trap Tom did.  Purchase an auto warranty before it’s too late and your used car begins to tap into your hard earned savings.  Owning an used car can cost you hundreds to thousands of dollars per year.  Protect yourself from unforeseen repair bills with an aftermarket auto warranty.

Choose An All Round Warranty

Auto warranty is given to the car owner by the manufacturer of the vehicle to maintain and repair the vehicle from the time of its purchase from the showroom. The auto dealer on behalf of the manufacturer of the vehicle makes a promise to the customers that if any real manufacturing default detected in the vehicle then that part will be replaced and the repairing cost as well as maintenance cost will be borne by the dealers.  The main motive to launch this service countrywide in US is to guard the interest of the customers.

When you select an auto warranty you are advised to choose a bumper to bumper warranty. It will give and ensure of the whole vehicle’s care and maintenance for the given time period. Apart from usual features in the warranty there are many extra features falls under all round warranty. The owner of the car is responsible for the maintenance of the power train, engine, drive train, and brake mechanism. If you keep it at one side, there are much more responsibilities borne up by the owners of the car. All round warranty is also known as comprehensive warranty; this warranty is quite expensive than other warranties.

Some people cannot afford purchasing a brand new car. Old cars are not always in bad or unwanted condition. In fact, they look like new car and the papers of their warranty are still applicable. Many of the used cars are only some years old. If you are buying an old or a pre-owned car then you should ask for the warranty papers from the seller of the old car. These papers are very helpful in the time of problem or if something goes wrong with your car.
